Our Mission

At Healing Hands Community Birthing Project (HHCBP), our mission is to create a comprehensive, culturally congruent, maternity care education model and grow a diverse maternity care workforce. We aim to eliminate birth outcome disparities among childbearing people of color, reduce maternal morbidity and mortality, and improve birth outcomes for childbearing people of color and their infants.

We are dedicated to increasing the number of birth workers to serve and support marginalized and under resourced communities. Through comprehensive, affordable education and training opportunities, we empower birth workers to pursue their passion while earning a living wage.

Our Vision

At HHCBP, we are committed to transforming maternal health through education, advocacy, and community support:

Education

We empower individuals to advocate for their own health and the health of their families.

Funding

Our legislative advocacy efforts focus on reducing maternal morbidity and mortality and promoting wage equity for birth workers.

Training

We provide comprehensive training for perinatal community health workers, setting a strong foundation for their careers in maternity care.

Birthworker Empowerment

We ensure that our birth workers receive fair compensation, allowing them to focus on their vital roles in the community.

Perinatal Support

Our services directly support BIPOC childbearing individuals, enhancing their entire maternity and parenting experience.

Community Engagement

We raise awareness about the disparities in maternal health outcomes and work towards health equity.

“I couldn't be happier with the support I received. My doula, Lucretia, was with me every step of the way, ensuring I felt comfortable and cared for. Her dedication showed me this is more than a job for her—it's her passion.”
